Printed under the close supervision of artist Amrish Kondurkar this limited edition print is individually numbered and signed by the artist in pencil and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Amrish derived his idea for the print from the 15th century Aztec sculpture on display at the British Museum. For the Aztecs the double headed serpent symbolised rebirth and metamorphosis. Its ability to shed its skin, heal and reform as a snake, may even be interpreted as a metaphor for healing. In Kondurkar’s version of the serpent, he reflects on his sentiments about our physical, mental and emotional transformation during this pandemic. To many, it has given the space and time to deliberate about the unsettling idea of change, to heal, to look inwards and to move further in life.
Prints are shipped unframed and rolled.
