Shoili Kanungo

Shoili Kanungo is an artist based in New Delhi. She loves drawing stories with images, words, or the two combined. Her work draws from the dullness of everyday, the things people say, snippets from the news, city walks, our emotional lives, quantum physics, mythology, surveillance in society – nothing is off limits. The personal, the political, the subconscious world of forms, they mingle. Shoili holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, a Masters degree in Design, and has studied intermediate level Japanese in Tokyo. Her picture stories have been published in journals such as The Indian Quarterly,

The New Enquiry, and Scroll. And her paintings have been exhibited in Fumetto Festival, Lucerne (2019) and Sanaa Festival, Adelaide (2022).

The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
